About

What is SCB?

The Society for Conservation Biology (SCB) is an international professional organization dedicated to promoting the scientific study of the phenomena that affect the maintenance, loss, and restoration of biological diversity. The Society's membership comprises a wide range of people interested in the conservation and study of biological diversity: resource managers, educators, government and private conservation workers, and students make up the more than 5,000 members world-wide.

SCB Davis Chapter

The Davis Chapter of the Society for Conservation Biology (SCB-D) was formed in 2009. Since then, it has been one of the most vibrant conservation-oriented groups in Davis. SCB-D strives to engage the Davis community with local and global conservation issues, provide opportunities for its members to develop professional skills needed in the field of conservation, and encourage interdisciplinary approaches to conservation.

Every year, members form committees to carry out conservation-related projects. These committees change with member interests and current events, but many committees are very successful and continue from year to year. See a list of our current committees on the “Committees” page!
